More and more environmentally concious people are choosing to avoid the risk of chemical contamination of their bodies, families and homes. Fortunately, solutions for addressing change exist and are within easy access. Choosing eco-friendly alternatives allows us to live a natural, green lifestyle.

The benefits of eating organic foods, wearing organic clothing and choosing organic bedding are numerous.

Organic Foods

The Organic Food Association tells us: It is common sense; organic food is good food. Good to eat, good for the environment, good for the small-scale farmers and farm workers who produce it.

Organic farming is all about health and wellness. To assure optimum health and resistance against diseases, the natural balance in our bodies and in the environment must be maintained. The application of artificial chemical pesticides, fungicides, herbicides, fertilizers, drugs and genetic interfere with this delicate balance; with unknown and often harmful consequences! Organic farming impacts on much more than what can be tasted or seen.

Over the last fifty years, commercial farmers have, of necessity, continued to increase the amount of these hazardous applications. Grain crops are sprayed as many as 8 times during the growing season. Many fruit and vegetable harvests have been sprayed 10 to 15 times. After harvesting the treatment process is repeated to deter grow of bacteria during storage and transport. Excessive spraying of fruit and vegetable crops destroys natural bacteria, leaving the plants increasingly vulnerable to attack from unwelcome insects or disease. Additional insecticides and fungicides are then required to fight off infestation and decay. However, these pests soon become immune to the chemicals applied and their population rapidly multiplies. More powerful and increasingly toxic chemicals are then required to control the infestation.

Organic certification is the consumers assurance that products have adhered to stringent standards and have been grown and/or handled according to rigid regulations without contamination from carcinogenic pesticides, fertilizers, human waste or sewage sludge. Certification attests that the product was processed without ionizing radiation or artificial color or food additives. Organic or chemically manipulated, which would you rather put in your body? We are what we eat. When our diet is built upon natural organic choices we are providing our bodies optimum food, produced in optimum conditions. Organically raised vegetables and fruit provide more minerals and nutrients than commercially grown produce and are more intensely endowed with color, scent and flavor; they certainly taste better!

Organic meats are produced from animals that have been treated humanely and reared on certified organic pastures and feeds. Certified organic meat guarantees that genetically modified organisms (GMOs) have not been used at any stage of growth production.

Organics And The Environment

The USDA estimates that within the next ten years half of all Americas food products will come from only 1% of the farms. The EPA states that commercial agriculture is accountable for 70% of the pollution in our countrys rivers and streams. Small scale organic farmers finance innovative and far reaching research designed to minimize agricultures impact on the environment. They maintain and preserve bio-diversity by planting heirloom varieties of plants and gathering seeds for future crops. The loss of a large quanity of species is one of the worlds pressing environmental concerns. The happy news is that many organic farmers and gardeners have been gathering, preserving seeds and growing unusual and unique varieties for decades.

Organic farming methods naturally enrich the soil with chemical free manure and compost. Well balanced soils produce healthy, strong plants, nourishing for people and for animals. Organic agriculture can be a lifeline for small farms as it offers an alternative market where sellers can command fair and equatable prices for crops. Organic farming may be one of the last ways to assure the survival of both our ecosystems and our rural farming communities .

Conventional farming methods endanger farm workers and their families. Scientific studies confirms chemical related health problems iincluding cancer, birth defects, memory loss, paralysis and death. Unsecured storage, faulty application methods and unsafe handling and transportation procedures are not at all uncommon and often lead to tragic mishaps. As insects and diseases develop resistance, farmers desperate to maintain or increase crop yields often resort to additional applications of expensive and stronger chemical products. Facing rising costs, depleted fields and contaminated ground water, many small farmers have been forced to abandon their livelihood.

Organic farming, is not only safer and healthier for farmers, but also promotes equitable compensation in the supply chain. Organic farming provides an economically viable and socially acceptable alternative to large scale farming and the accompanying dependence on government crop subsidies. Support of the small organic farmer supports Americas economy.

Organic production dramatically reduces health concerns. Many EPA approved pesticides were registered and approved prior to extensive research that linked many of these noxious chemicals to cancer and other significant health problems. Crop dusting has often resulted in drifts of toxic pesticides from fields to residential areas.

Organic agriculture is one way to prevent more of these chemicals from contaminating the ecosystem. An increasing amount of research indicates that pesticides and other contaminants are considerably more prevalent in the foods we eat, in our bodies and in the environment than we previously thought.

By choosing organic products we lessen this toxic burden. Organic farmers regularly rotate crops and plant cover crops to combat weeds, nutrient leaching and erosion. “Soil is the foundation of the food chain”. The focus of organic farming is to use methods that build and maintain healthy, sustainable soils.

Organic Skin Care And Personal Products

Skin care and cosmetics are the least regulated products under the US Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. Whether it is soap, moisturizers or deodorants, skin care products are an essential part of daily life. Do we really understand what these products actually contain and what we are forcing our skin to absorb?

Have you ever suffered from itchy, stinging or burning skin? Chances are that your skin absorbed irritants and chemicals from your skin care products. The skin absorbs ingredients in all the products that come in contact with our skin. Consider nicotine or HRT patches. They rely completely on skin absorption.

As mothers we are always concerned for the well being of our children. We tenderly comfort and bathe them with a wide range of products. These include soaps, shampoos, creams and lotions, many of which are used on babys sensitive skin several times a day. The skin is the largest organ of the body and the delicate skin of an infant can be up to 100 times more receptive to toxic chemicals and irritating ingredients that the skin of an adult.

Without even realizing, parents put their babies at risk daily. Did you know that applying powder to your new babys sensitive skin may pose a cancer risk later in life? The principle ingredient in most baby powders is talc, which several medical studies have confirmed as a known carcinogenic.

Lanolin is a prominent ingredient in many personal care products and when processed from organically raised sheep, it is a wonderful healing balm. The danger lies in non-organic lanolin that has been processed from sheep that were sprayed for lice with chemical pesticides that are contaminated with carcinogenic ingredients such as DDT, dieldrin or lindane. The residue of these toxics remains in the processed lanolin and can cause severe reactions and long term health hazards.

Chemical free and all natural, organic products offer eco-friendly options that eliminate these dangers. You can avoid these and similar safely risks by using only certified organic products formulated from natural sources such as plants, fruits, vegetables and flowers. These products to do not contain synthetic chemicals such as lauryl sulphate, phthales, parabens, artificial fragrances or dyes.

Organic Textiles

By the end of 2008, the sale of organic textiles worldwide is expected to exceed $3 billion. The global demand for organic textiles is increasing in response to consumer demand. Organic production takes more time, requires more skills and knowledge, and for now, costs somewhat more. However it is worth it. Organic materials do not factor in any hidden costs to the environment.

Choose Eco-Friendly Products! Choose Organic!

The consumption and use of green technologies is all about the challenges and choices we face if we are to continue to enjoy a high quality of life within the finite resources of our planet. Do you wish to live a lifestyle that protects future generations? Do you want to to live in the greenest, healthiest environment possible with a conscience, respect and appreciation for the earth that sustains us? The quality of life for future generations is dependent on the choices we make today!

Studies show that about a fourth of the US adult population has a profound sense of environmental enlightenment and social responsibility. Half of us will buy organic and make earth friendly choices in many aspects of our daily living. Consumer education and awareness is a powerful force for change.

The consumption of organically grown products has increase by 20 per cent in the last year alone. Organic alternatives are readily available and the trend is escalating. Used Office Furniture: The Different Types

There are many different types of office furniture available for the consumer today. The varying types can cause a purchaser quite a headache if they do not have a set ideal in mind before setting out to create the perfect office. A concise list of the types and uses of office furniture is needed for the professional with not a lot of time for research.

The style of the desk needed is the beginning of the decision making for the purchaser’s perfect office. After the desk has been chosen, the other items needed for the office fall into place easily. Modern/contemporary, modular and simple are the different types of desk available

The modern/contemporary desks have become less artistic and more functional as they have been designed more for space saving rather than visual pleasure. The modular desk is not simply a desk but a workspace with many sections for convenience. The simple desk is just a desk with no frills but still elegant and professional.

If there is a tremendous amount of work to be done, the modular desk is the best choice because it has all the essentials in one spot. Cabinets and filing drawers are attached in various spots on the modular desk. The convenience of these desks does not interfere with the professional and stylish appearance.

If the desk is simply for a place to discuss further operations or for signing paychecks, a simple desk would be efficient. A simple desk is just that, simply a desk, there are no frills or additional parts to a simple desk. The necessary accessories for the majority of offices must be purchases separately.

A modern/contemporary style desk would be best for an office that needs to exude a professional or authoritative feel. Seemingly more powerful than other desks, this type is often larger. This type of desk is not as showy as modular desks, therefore the attached accessories, such as cabinets, are few.

These three types of desk use a variety of material for manufacturing. Solid woods like maple, cherry and oak make the more expensive desks. The cheaper desks are made of lighter materials such as melamine laminate surfaces and aluminum.

A desk, wholly made of wood, is sturdier for long-term use. A desk made of lighter material, like a cubicle, can be sturdy if used within their designed proper specifications. Either type of desk will last for as long as needed if used properly.

The purchase of accessories depends upon which type of desk was chosen. Though the modular desk is self-sufficient, there is one accessory that is needed: the office chair. Extra cabinets and storage units are necessary when purchasing any other type of desk.

The type of office chair that should be purchased is based upon ergonomics. The fundamentals of comfort and productivity are ergonomics. The productivity suffers if the office chair does not promote a stress-free body.

Office furniture and its many different aspects create a complicated selection for the consumer. A simpler decision is made by knowing what is available and what is needed. Choosing the correct furniture to suit the office depends upon what type of office the consumer has or wants.

What Are The Benefits Of Small Weddings

There are several reasons why couples may choose to have small weddings rather than a much more elaborate and large one. The problem with a large wedding is that often the couple may find themselves still paying for the event years after it has taken place.

For many years now because of celebrity weddings being shown on TV, elaborate and expensive ones have proved to be very popular. Yet now people are starting to see the smaller wedding as being more acceptable and are coming back into vogue. For those who are looking for a wedding that is more intimate and personal then this is the best type of wedding for them.

Just because you choose to have a small wedding does not mean you have to make it an informal, cheap or a simple one. The only real difference between a small and large wedding is the number of guests that have been invited to the special day.

When we talk about small weddings we are not talking about the location, or how much the food etc., costs we are talking about the number of guests that the bride and groom invite. These kinds of weddings are often restricted to close family members and friends of the couple who are getting married.

Because the guest numbers are much smaller with this wedding the bride and groom are able to focus more of their time and energy into the areas of their wedding that they consider to be important. Certainly this may well mean that they are able to actually have their wedding and honeymoon abroad rather than at home.

More and more people who opt for a small wedding find there are lots of destinations around the world where such an event can take place. Along with the Caribbean, Las Vegas is becoming increasingly popular for a unique location where their wedding can take place. However, if you are after something a little more intimate and romantic then an old castle or mountain lodge may be the perfect setting for your small wedding.

If you really want to be saving money on your wedding day and have it at home instead there are certain things one can do to save on the costs. The majority of costs for a wedding are taken up by the reception because in many cases a couple will hire a room or hold it in a hotel. But instead to save money why not arrange for the reception to be held at a family member’s home or at a restaurant that the bride and groom like.

As you can see from above a small wedding can be as elaborate as you want it to be. Just what kind of small wedding you choose to have will depend on how much you are willing to spend. But what is important to remember is that this is your special day and it is one that you and your guests should enjoy and remember for years to come no matter what size it is.

Mitsubishi Evolution IX, a class apart From The Rest

The commonly nicknamed Evo was born in 1992 initially to allow Mitsubishi entry into the World Rally Championship’s Group A class and the SCCA Pro rally Championship. The first Evo’s were only sold on Japanese soil initially and were modeled on the popular Lancer saloon.

The car was soon a sought after gem and was crossing european borders to enter the import market as a prized grey-market import. Mitsubishi were fast to realize the interest and quickly paved the way for official imports to the UK in 1998.

The first Evolution was a four wheel drive with a 5 speed gearbox and 2.0 litres of power that summoned a powerful 244bhp. This was a blueprint which set the future standards for the Evo, and Mitsubishi didn’t let us down as there have been many incarnations.

The Evo was built alongside the more family orientated Lancer Saloon, like a hot headed big brother, and though the evo got heavier, the power and the handling got better and better until Mitsubishi had literally evolved a cult classic. The Evolution developed respect amongst speed freaks and rally drivers alike and although the car wasn’t a real eye opener to look at, under the bonnet punch was key to a long and successful life.

The Evolution IX hit the roads in 2006 and was the last of the squared edged Evo’s off the line before the newer models were drafted. The engine stayed true to the 2.0 litre turbo with 345 bhp and a newer 6 speed sports box to drive things along. The body had a bigger carbon fibre rear wing for better control and the roof was a lighter aluminum design.

Without any problem, the car could reach 158mph top speed and accelerate to 60mph in just 4.2 seconds, which is enough to keep you firmly riveted to the back of your seat, but although the Evo was fast it was known for more than just power. The Evo was a rally drivers dream as it was very smooth to handle, probably one of the best handling sports saloons ever produced.

Due to the characteristics of the Evo there were not many cars that could beat it from A to B on a winding roads or track, mainly because of the four wheel drive and a very low centre of gravity. The awesome handling was due to the super active yaw control and Bilsten Dampers, so if you can get your hands on one, enjoy it to the max, don’t hold it back.

A strong indication of what the all new Evolution X may look like was unveiled when they showed the Concept X showcar in 2005. Gone were the square lines replaced by cool modern styling and a smoother more aerodynamic bodystyle. Although the car’s looks have been updated this car is still in tradition with the Evolution of old, she just had a nip and tuck to remain pretty.
